What to expect during treatment?

Acupuncture uses very thin needles to stimulate points on the body. Some patients do not feel the insertion of the needles, while others report a short lived stinging sensation. The majority of patients describe it as virtually painless. Once the needles are inserted you may experience a tingling or numb sensation which is a completely normal response. Following the treatment patients report feeling either relaxed or energized.

Your first treatment time may take anywhere from 60-90 minutes and will include a consultation, examination and initial treatment. The exam and consult will be very similar to that which would receive at any doctor's office with a few questions and exams that are specific to acupuncture. Each additional treatment time after that will vary from 20-30 minutes depending on your condition. The number of treatments will vary depending on condition and patient response to treatment. However it is common to start seeing results within the first few treatments.
